There's a virtually infinite number of keyword tools on the internet but arguably the best keyword research tool for any webmaster is good old webmaster tools...

http://google.com/webmasters/tools

Once you have added your site and google has had time to crawl it, webmaster tools will give you a list of keywords for your site. The keywords are listed in order of significance so you can instantly see which keywords are likely to display your site when a google search is made. Yes it is very simple and lacks the features many of the other keyword tools have, but knowing what google thinks are the important terms in your site is powerful information. It is keyword research straight from the Googles mouth, so to speak.

Theres another section of webmaster tools that is just as valuable, the "Search Queries" section. This section tells you which google queries actually resulted in your page being listed in the SERP (Search Engine Results Page). Page impressions are listed next to the number of clicks, so you can see for example which of your sites prominent keywords are actually resulting in clicks. This really is powerful information.

There is one big drawback: it can take months for this information to appear in webmaster tools. Same goes for any changes you make it will take a while for the changes to filter through. For established sites though this usefulness is immense. So my advice is to add your site to webmaster tools as soon as the site is launched.

Free Web Hosting Reviews

Post your free website hosting reviews in this thread. I will start with 000webhost.com which is by far the best free web host I have used so far.

They offer completely ad-free cPanel web hosting including MySQL databases and hosting domain name hosting. You get all the things you get with any basic paid hosting service apart from the charges.

The potential drawback is downtime but that happens with paid hosting too, and I have been using them for over a year and have not noticed any downtime at all. I'm sure there must have been some downtime at some point but I certainly didn't notice it and I check my sites at least once every day.

As I said this is the best free webhost I have used by a long shot. This is what you get:

* 1500 MB Disk Space
* 100 GB Data Transfer
* cPanel Control Panel
* Website Builder
* 2 MySQL Databases
* 5 fully hosted domain names
* 5 sub domains
* 5 email addresses
* Unrestricted PHP5 support
* Site builder
* Site backups
* Custom error pages
* Cron Jobs
* IMAP support
* Password protect directories
* One click software install scripts

If you need more databases or you want to host more domains all you need to do is create a new account with a new email address, so everything listed above is effectively unlimited.

For an example of a site hosted on 000webhost see this thread http://webmasterhelp.org/showthread.php?tid=67
To run kusaba, you should have a webserver with at least the following:

An apache or apache2 installation
mod_php version 4 or better, with GD and MBStrings support
A mysql server with the MyISAM engine
Extracting kusaba
Download the most recent kusaba release from http://www.kusaba.org
Extract it to a directory that your apache installation has access to
Make sure the permissions for everything are readable and writable by your web server
Edit config.php
Editing config.php
To enable a feature, change the value to true:

define('TC_INSTANTREDIRECT', true);
To disable a feature, change the value to false:
define('TC_INSTANTREDIRECT', false);
To change the text value of a configuration, edit the text in the single quotes:

define('TC_NAME', 'kusaba');
Becomes:
define('TC_NAME', 'Mychan');
Warning: Do not insert single quotes in the value yourself, or else you will cause problems. To overcome this, you use what is called escaping, which is the process of adding a backslash before the single quote, to show it is part of the string:
define('TC_NAME', 'Jason\'s chan');
The postbox is where you mix dynamic values with your own text. The text from what you enter is then parsed and will be displayed under the postbox on each board page and thread page:

define('TC_POSTBOX', '
Supported file types are: <!tc_filetypes />

Anyone can have their own freely hosted imageboard chan up and running in less than 10 minutes. Im not talking about lame hosting services like Image Board for Free. No, I'm talking about a fully hosted imageboard with FTP access, MySQL database, cPanel administration and all the basic things you get with a paid hosting account. The way real men do it.

Don't believe me? The following site is hosted completely free, no advertising, pop-ups or hidden catches at all...

http://kusabax.net16.net/

You just can't go wrong. Here's how to do it...

1. Create a free 000webhost.com account HERE.

2. Login to your CPanel HERE and create a MySQL database by clicking the MySQL icon.

3. Download KusabaX HERE and FTP the files to the free hosting account created in step 1.

4. Now you are reading to install...

Quote:4a Edit KU_DBTYPE, KU_DBHOST, KU_DBDATABASE, KU_DBPASSWORD, and KU_DBPREFIX in config.php

4b Move the files install.php,install_DBTYPE.php, and kusaba_freshinstall.DBTYPE.sql into the root directory. DBTYPE is the database type you are using. MySQL and MySQLi both use the MySQL installation files, and all PostgreSQL settings use the same PostgreSQL installation files.

4c Run install.php, and do everything that it says.

4d Log into yoursite/manage.php with the default admin account (Username: admin, Password: admin). Create a new administrator account, and delete the old one.

4e Delete the /OTHER/ directory. Delete install.php, install_DBTYPE.php, and kusaba_freshinstall.DBTYPE.sql.

And thats it. You are now the Administrator of your very own imagboard chan and it is not costing you a cent. Who needs 4chan I say.
